Sometimes you’re working on a Word document and you want to disable spell check for just that one particular document. Just follow the instructions for your version of Microsoft Word:

Word 2010

  1. Click the “File” button
  2. Click “Options” on the left
  3. Click “Proofing”
  4. Check “Hide spelling errors in this document only” and/or “Hide grammar errors in this document only”
  5. Click OK

Word 2007

  1. Click the Office orb button in the upper-left-hand corner of the screen
  2. Click “Word Options” at the bottom of the menu
  3. Click “Proofing”
  4. Check “Hide spelling errors in this document only” and/or “Hide grammar errors in this document only”
  5. Click OK

Word 2003

  1. Click the “Tools” menu
  2. Click “Options”
  3. Click the “Spelling & Grammar” tab
  4. Check “Hide spelling errors in this document” and/or “Hide grammatical errors in this document”
  5. Click OK
